The European freight forwarding index published by Danske Bank indicates that freight volumes are returning to more normal levels at the beginning of 2010 (the index stands at 58 in January 2010 against 30 in January 2009). The recovery is slow and gradual, however. Air freight is also making interesting progress (IATA Cargo volumes up by 24 %). Volumes should continue to rise until June at least. Forecasts going forwards are less certain. The risk is whether the summer holidays will once again be prolonged this year.
